Overview
Even globe-trotting winter sports enthusiasts are inextricably drawn back to the glistening white slopes of this Tyrolean village time and time again. Traditional and modern at the same time, St Anton appeals to holiday-makers who treasure the alpine cosiness at 1300 metres as much as the hospitality and international orientation. This Austrian holiday resort is also a member of ‘Best of the Alps’, a consortium of the twelve top ski resorts in the Alps.
The Valluga Peak at 2,811 metres above sea level is the highest point of the ski resort, where views extend to Switzerland and Italy on clear days. There's plenty of choice for skiers, with 350km of marked runs, 200km of backcountry off-piste terrain and 97 cable cars and lift systems. As well as its challenging terrain, the resort is also geared up for younger visitors with 140km of blue pistes, designated nursery slopes and specially designed lifts for children from 90cm in height. Children under 8 can also use the lifts all season long for just Euro 10.
Toboggan runs in St Anton as well as in nearby Schnann and Flirsch, as well as ice rinks for skating and curling, provide for additional sporting alternatives. The resort is also home to the multi-functional sports centre arl.rock which houses numerous indoor activities including a giant climbing wall.
